Yes, it has been some time now that I have published part 1 and 2 of the letter series.
We have received such an amazing feedback, more than what we expected. With “we” I mean my client and me.
In all we received 267 replies, some of them being really long texts.
My client asked me to wait before publishing the rest of the letter since he wants to read and understand all the replies we received so far first. He says it takes time since many are giving a lot of information on what other people feel about his letter or their own situation. He cannot read a lot of it in a short time. It would be overwhelming.
Interestingly quite a number of the replies (102) came from people being diagnosed with ADHD, ASD including Asperger Syndrom, Depression and other mental health related “matters”.
It seems that many feel being pushed into a labeled drawer by the diagnosis they received.
Especially at many schools that seem to be where support ends.
Give it a name and that is it.
With full right they claim the authors of these letters and their families had hoped to receive support in a way that would actually help them to overcome some of their struggles. But they feel being left alone by this “quick label fix”.
My client asks for time. And I am happy about it because it shows he learned to express his needs.
Stay tuned….
